You probably know world 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. The Japan Stage from Ryu in Street Fighter II, the terrifying Planet Zebes from Metroid, Corneria from Starfox, Pandora from Borderlands, the Crystal Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog or the nearly empty Landscape from Shadow of the Collossus.
But how often are these "Virtual Worlds" we explored and loved illustrated by us gamers who have the talent to create art in our own unique style?
After Link's Blacklist, The MegaMan and Final Fantasy Anniversary Tributes and the Castlevania Series Tribute this is the next Game-Art-HQ Community Art Project and unlike the previously mentioned ones, this one is focussing on the Stages, the Worlds, the Backgrounds, the Enviroments of Video Games which are relative rarely drawn.
The task: Draw a place/stage etc. from a Video game of your choice with the focus on the enviroments and not the game characters. You can add characters but they should be just one small element of the art.
The rules:
Only 1 Entry Per Artist
Only 30 Artists can participate in this Game Art HQ Project
Up to two entries per game are allowed, this means Super Metroid can't be claimed anymore as example since two artists claimed it already.
The absolute deadline is the 1st June 2013
I aim to publish this project in mid june on Game-Art-HQ.com including descriptions & screenshots about the games and stages drawn, your own descriptions. This is no competition, no contest there are no prizes except that your art is seen for a very different audience than here on dA where the most visitors are artists like yourself. It means also that you can use this project as a practise to draw something different than usually and last but not least it means to help illustrating the beauty , fun and creativity we experiences through the video games and their "Virtual Worlds"
This project was one of multile project ideas and voted by the GAHQ community in january 2013. Artists showed their interest in this project already back than and so 15 spots are claimed already. You can see who is onboard and what games have been claimed here in our forum forum.game-art-hq.com/index.ph…

The GA-HQ Interview #1!
Just a few days ago I had the idea to use a weekly journal to let 1-3 group members introduce themselves a bit through a few questions I ask them about their games, art, dA and other topics.
Both of the first two artists are members of Game-Art-HQ since years now, Mortalshinobi even since the start back in 2012!
Despite the changes at dA, please have a good read, I hope these interviews are fun to read, and help to get to know some of the group members a bit better!
Cheers and a nice weekend everyone!

It is time to find alternatives.
DeviantART was an awesome place when I joined it in ..I think 2010.
I created a Mortal Kombat group which became one of the biggest one for that game series here, also :iconfighting-game-elite: which is one of the most active and biggest fighting game related groups now and of course Game-Art-HQ with its over 9000 members ..I bet it is the most active and maybe among the biggest groups here on dA as well now and since years.
But deviantART changed. It changed this, it changed that. It became...worse.
Now in 2020 I am unhappy with many of the changes which made a great navigation more and more difficult with the times ..but Eclipse is the
Weekly Group Interview Idea
Heya, I had the idea recently to do a weekly journal with an interview between me and Game-Art-HQ Group members.
I would ask you 5-8 questions related to video games, art, deviantART and other related topics.
If you find this idea funny and you would like to be featured, simply mention it via a comment or directly PM me
Greets and a ..healthy good time everyone!

Our GA-HQ Character Collab!
We have a big video game character art collaboration, organized in rounds here since years, the last one started in February and over 30 more game characters were drawn in the style of their artists, but always with the same guidelines: Full Body, no Background via a .png file.

This week we got a good handful new additions as well that range from Ulala from Space Channel 5 by Sega, 3 lovely characters from the old Legend of Zelda: Oracle games on the Game Boy by Capcom actually, Sir Daniel Fortesque from Medievil, Reptile f
