Game-Art-HQ stands mainly for drawn art, but cosplay is a part of the video game fans community, a part of deviantART and a part of GAHQ as well.
Today i want to feature some of the cosplayers here which put not only a lot of work into the costumes they made, they also had the right photographer and in some cases completely fitting environments for their cosplays as well. Most cosplay articles are mostly about the sexy looking female cosplayers, i hope to arrange a nice mix here instead with a different focus.
I think the term Cosplay-Art is only fair for the upcoming photos:
Edward Conway, the protagonist of the upcoming Assassin's Creed IV, cosplayed by Rick Boer from the Netherlands. His earlier MGS cosplays are damn epic.
The right moment..caught here by fiathriel from the USA a photographer who often works with cosplayers, her works are often on the frontpage here on dA.
Asherwarr from Russia often looks like directly taken out of the video games in her cosplays of Mileena from Mortal Kombat or the Dark Elf from Lineage 2 here.
Elizabeth from the recently released Bioshock Infinite, cosplayed by Angela Bermudez, her gallery is full with a giant varity of photos and cosplays.
A cosplayer can look as good as possible..but if there is a fat guy in the background eating a burger, the cosplay and the photo is a MESS. Beethy from Australia knows that problem and takes extra care when he plans a cosplay shooting and shows how the right environment can add so much more to a great cosplay.
Like drawn art too, cosplay art does not always have to look like the originals. Steampunk Link instead of the normal green costume? Why not?
This one was made by MolecularAgatha from Costa Rica.
Photoshop / Photomanipulating on cosplay photos is something often critizised by cosplayers who just care about the costumes, but why not if it can add nice effects to the model and its surroundings? I think this Yuna cosplay by Oruntia from Indonesia is a damn fine example why photomanipulation can be a great thing!
Another small selection of outstanding cosplays :
Instead of the best submissions per week or month i am trying out a new blog series, with specific themes, today it was about cosplays, the next time it might be about traditional drawn art as example or art of a specific character, game or art style...who knows?
